Paul De Ridder (° 1948) Doctor in Medieval History, head of department at the Royal Library of Belgium. He made an inventory of the archives (1047-1797) of the chapter of Saint-Michael and Saint-Gudule and published numerous articles on the use of languages in Brussels before 1794.

Paul De Ridder was awarded the prestigious "ANV-Visserneerlandiaprijs voor Persoonlijke Verdiensten" for his commitment to the cultural heritage of Brussels. This award, carrying the name of the Jewish and freethinking Dutchman Herman Lodewijk Visser († 1943), rewards those who dedicate themselves tirelessly for the benefit of society.
On May 12th 2007 he was awarded the "Eric Suy-Prijs".
